Shop Small Saturday

In the midst of Black Friday weekend, with a frenzy surrounding the big box stores, how nice to celebrate today as Shop Small Saturday, a day to enjoy the small and preferably local. Boulder abounds with options, including lovely Peppercorn for your food-related gift buying. Cured, now with two stores near downtown, would be another excellent place to patronize.

Small Business Saturday

It's our first weekend of the season without a Farmers' Market in downtown Boulder, but hey, it's Small Business Saturday today, a chance to support our wonderful local businesses while coming away with unique gifts unlike anything you'll find in a big box store. Details from Downtown Boulder are here.

Shop Small In Boulder Today

Something of an antidote to Black Friday (which I detest, and even more so as it has crept into Black Thanksgiving), today is Small Business Saturday, a day to "shop small" in downtown Boulder.  (Using an adjective instead of an adverb has always bugged me, but nobody else seems to care about that anymore, and besides, "shop smally" would be positively weird.)  Think about visiting our beautiful one-of-a-kind Boulder stores for your Christmas shopping.  You might have a friend or relative who would be thrilled with a beautiful serving dish or other fun item from Boulder's incomparable cooking store, Peppercorn.  Visit one of the fantastic downtown restaurants for lunch or dinner while you're at it (I recently had a great dinner at Bramble and Hare on 13th Street).

Shop Small Saturday

Today's a day I can get behind, Shop Small Saturday, supporting all the wonderful, local, independently-owned stores we have here in Boulder.  Think of the myriad of food-related ones, places like Cured or Kim and Jake's Cakes.  I'm not one for Black Friday, and am disgusted with its creeping into Black Thursday eve (although it doesn't mean I'll never set foot in Target again), but supporting local business with Shop Small Saturday works for me.
