For tomorrow only, the 19th, Whole Foods will be doing a sale on their exceptional previously frozen, MSC-certified cod (and you can usually find some still frozen to stock up) for just $5.99 a pound, basically half off. Here's what to know about that cod:
• This cod comes from Marine Stewardship Council (MSC)-certified Alaskan fisheries. MSC certification is the gold standard for seafood sustainability.
• This cod is frozen at sea to lock in straight-from-the-water freshness. Whole Foods Market’s dedicated port buyers purchase only the highest quality cod.

One-Day Sale at Whole Foods Tomorrow
Getting in a Lenten mood, our local Whole Foods stores will have previously frozen wild Alaskan true cod tomorrow only for $7.99 a pound, $5 off their usual price. Keep an eye out also for a sale that starts tomorrow at Sprouts for the full week on wild caught Alaskan cod filet for $4.99 a pound. So hard to know how to compare products, but the wording on these, while enticing in both cases, is noticeably different. I'm enthused about both, and Sunflower will also be on the wild caught cod fillets bandwagon with a sale starting tomorrow, too.

A Cod Clarification
I'm not sure how this works, but although the cod on sale at Sprouts is advertised as fresh, it in fact has spent time frozen. The guy at the counter tried to explain how their vendor sells it to them as fresh, but the logic eluded me, and it's marked in the case as previously frozen. Looked good, so I went for it anyway.
