Great Local Coupons From Clipper

I should probably pay more attention to Clipper Magazine.  Mine arrived recently in the mail (you should also be able to find our local edition at http://clippermagazine.com/), and the cover really caught my attention.  Not only was the cover advertising a Farmers & Food Artisans Road Tour at the Superior Whole Foods this Sunday starting at noon, but there's also a great coupon right on the cover for buy one local product, get the 2nd free up to $10 at the Superior store.  Flipping further into the magazine, I also found a coupon for Munson's fabulous corn at four ears for $1 at the farm stand.  Good deals.

Good morning, Boulder, and what's with all this snow???  Anyway, sorry for the short notice, but the Whole Foods store in Superior will be doing another coupon swap night tonight from 6 to 7:30 in their cafe.  They do ask that you sign up at Customer Service, so give them a call if headed there.  They also say, "Bring a new friend and you each will receive a $5.00 Gift Card to start your shop!"  Does that mean bring someone new to the coupon swap, or somebody you just met?

P.S.  Okay, now I know I'm losing it when I see it wasn't short notice, since I did a post about this a few days ago.  Sheesh.

Free Stuff From Sprouts

I've previously sung the praises of Sprouts' monthly e-newsletter, which usually includes a coupon or two, and this month's is a bonanza.  It has three coupons: one for $1 off Dr. Bronner's Shikakai pump soaps (which are also currently on sale), but even better, a coupon for a free pint (yes, a generous pint, not a little cup) of Chobani yogurt, and a free 8.1 ounce (that's the real size, not a little snack size) bag of Garden of Eatin' tortilla chips.  If you haven't already signed up, you can do so using the e-news link from Sprouts' homepage.  While it's too late this newsletter that's already out, who knows what the future will bring.

Whole Foods' Imagine Broth/Stock Sale Continues!

People are probably getting tired of my singing the praises of Imagine organic broth and cooking stock, but they really do make a big difference in soups and the like. I blathered on and on over the past few weeks about the Whole Foods sale on it, which at $2.50 a box wasn't all that great, but when combined with the $1 off coupon in the Whole Deal newsletter, became a stellar deal. The sales flyer it appeared in expired this past Tuesday, but I was just in the Pearl Street store, and lo, it's still on sale, through November 1st. While most of the products are still at $2.50 (before using the coupon), the bad news is they've increased my favorite low sodium stocks to a sale price of $3. But still, $2 after the coupon is a good deal, and I didn't see the low sodium chicken stock carried at all at Vitamin Cottage, where the stocks and broths remain $2.39 a box all the way through October 29th.

Last Call For $1.50 Imagine Broth

Just a heads up that today's the last day of the current Whole Foods sale, which includes Imagine's wonderful organic broth or cooking stock at $2.50 a box. Combined with the $1 off coupon you'll find in the Whole Deal newsletter available at the store, that results in my favorite broth/stock at just $1.50 a box. Vitamin Cottage does have it on sale for $2.39 a box until nearly the end of the month, and we can always hope for even better prices as the holidays get underway. With their giganto shelf space, Whole Foods carries a low sodium version of the chicken cooking stock that I didn't see at Vitamin Cottage (which has the regular chicken stock). The stock usually sells for more than the broth, so it's great to have them both at the same price. A customary broth user for my soups, rice dishes, and casseroles, I've really been getting into using the stock instead. The pork green chili I made with the stock a week or so ago was the best ever.

Mambo Sprouts Coupon Books

Mambo Sprouts has good coupons for the types of products that are sold at our local natural foods stores, and unlike the coupons in The Whole Deal, which can only be used at Whole Foods, Mambo Sprouts coupons are good everywhere. The new fall coupon book is out, and I've seen it recently at the cashier stands at both Sprouts and Sunflower. If you see one, grab it, as they tend to disappear quickly. Mambo Sprouts coupons are also available online, but the hard copy ones are good all the way through December 31st, and you'll find that the online ones rotate around more quickly than that.

Pssst - A Hint Re Imagine Broth

I've been madly singing the praises of Imagine organic broth and stock, currently on sale at both Whole Foods and Vitamin Cottage. Vitamin Cottage has the better sale price at face value, $2.39 a box all the way through October 29th, while Whole Foods' sale price is $2.50 a box through next Tuesday, the 11th. But Whole Foods' own coupon newsletter, The Whole Deal (available at the front of their stores and online) includes a coupon (good only at Whole Foods) for $1 off per box, bringing its price down to an astonishing $1.50 a box. The coupons do limit themselves to one per purchase, but I've heard a rumor that the cashiers have excepted more than one coupon for more than one box. Not sure I'd experiment with this myself. Just sayin'.

Facebook Whole Foods Coupon

I don't know how long this will go on, but if you "like" Whole Foods Market of Boulder on Facebook, you'll get a coupon for a free half gallon of Whole Foods 365 organic milk (dairy, soy or almond). Good deal for a click on a place you probably really do like anyway - I just did!

Mambo Sprouts Coupon Books

The summer edition of Mambo Sprouts' very useful coupon books is out, and I've seen copies recently in the checkout lanes at our Boulder Sprouts and Sunflower stores. Grab one while you can, as the supply usually disappears pretty quickly. Mambo of course always has online coupons, but the coupon book ones are all good through the end of September, so you might find one in the hardcopy book that's no longer available online.

And don't forget that Whole Foods publishes its own exclusive Mambo Sprouts coupons in its Whole Deal newsletter, good only at Whole Foods. Again, even though the coupons are online, it helps to have the hard copy too, since the current ones (in the May/June/July issue) are good through the end of August.

Five Bucks Off At Alfalfa's

Check out the bottom of this flyer for a coupon that's worth $5 off a purchase of $30 or more at Alfalfa's. It's good through July 15th, so there's plenty of time to use it.

Seventh Generation Sale/Coupon Combo

I'm a fan of Seventh Generation cleaning products, and Whole Foods' current sale (through the 14th) on their dish liquid for $2.50 is a good price. But check out the current issue of The Whole Deal magazine that's available in the store, or their online coupons, for a coupon worth $1 off any Seventh Generation product. That makes an already good deal a steal.

A Coupon For Penzeys Spices

Today's Daily Camera has a big coupon in the "local" section for $5 off a $10 purchase at Penzeys Spices, which has a store on the Pearl Street mall. While I usually go for organic peppercorns (Whole Foods' 365 organic being a favorite), I tried Penzeys' non-organic India Special Extra Bold peppercorns the last time they had an interesting coupon offer, and they knocked my socks off with their rich pepper kick. They say it's "the largest of all the Tellicherry Peppercorns - only ten pounds out of every ton of pepper makes this special grade." The store of course has plenty of other options to consider as well.

Goodies From Sprouts' Mailing List

Here's a good reason to be on Sprouts' email mailing list - coupons! In addition to getting a link to their weekly specials a day in advance, the list sometimes sends out a little newsletter. Yesterday's included two very nice coupons: one for $5 off a $25 purchase, and another for a free thinkThin crunch bar. You can sign up for the mailing list using the mailbox in the lower right corner of their website.

Penzeys Spices Coupon

Today's Daily Camera contains another coupon from Penzeys Spices for a free mini gift box (worth $11.95) with a $5 purchase. I stocked up on peppercorns to get mine, and it's really cute, with mini jars of their cinnamon, garlic powder, ground pepper, and an intriguing mix, "Mural of Flavor." Use them yourself or make them a stocking stuffer for a cooking friend.

Mambo Sprouts Coming to Boulder

Mambo Sprouts, the folks who bring us fine coupons (both online and printed coupon books in stores) for some of our favorite natural products, will bring their road show van to Boulder this week, stopping at several Whole Foods stores. Their Go Mambo! tour offers natural and organic product samples, information, and coupons from their mobile van. You can check their full schedule online, but they'll be at the store on Alpine on Wednesday from 10 to 1, same hours Thursday at the Baseline Whole Foods, and at the Pearl Street store on Friday. Sunday the 22nd, they'll be back at the Baseline store from 3 to 6, and Sunday the 29th at the Superior Whole Foods from 2 to 5. Other days they'll be visiting Whole Foods stores elsewhere in Denver and farther afield. Go Mambo!
