Many Food Options Today
What a great day of choices for the Boulder-area foodie. We have the Boulder Farmers' Market going on as usual, and I believe Arapahoe leading to it will finally be open following the summer's construction, yay. Then there's the annual peach festival happing in Lafayette (see a few posts below for details). Then further, there's Lucky's Market's grand opening in Longmont celebration happening today and tomorrow (again, look a few posts below for details). Fun times!

Lafayette Peach Festival Saturday
Old Town Lafayette will be hopping this Saturday, the 17th, with the Lafayette Peach Festival running from 9 to 4 on Public Road. They're expecting over 30,000 pounds of certified organic peaches, along with cobblers and pies, bands on two stages, arts and crafts, a farmers' market, and more. Maybe I should look up peach recipes from Julia Child, since today would be her birthday!

Farmers' Markets Today
We have our usual Farmers' Market in downtown Boulder today from 8 to 2 (don't forget that next week's will be held on Sunday instead, due to the pro bike race). Planning types can check out the produce to expect using the market's crop list. Today is also the Lafayette Peach Festival, from 9 to 4, which will also feature its own farmers' market, in addition to a ton of peaches.

Lafayette Peach Festival This Weekend
Lafayette's grand peach celebration will be this Saturday, the 20th. You can read all the details about it here. I went last year and it was lots of fun, but it's probably best to go early, as it gets zooey with people.

Peaches At Boulder Farmer's Market?
This week's brand new newsletter from the Boulder Farmer's Market promises that peaches will be appearing this week. That should mean from Colorado's western slope, oh yum. I wonder if any will be organic, and if any will be at this afternoon's market, starting at 4. Check out the right column of the newsletter for the ever-growing list of produce to be found at the market as we enter mid-July.

Boulder Peach Prices Compared
With peach season at its height, here's a rundown of peach prices advertised in the Boulder area this week. Depending on the store, sales end either next Tuesday or Wednesday (for those stores that do double ad Wednesdays). If not specified organic, I'd assume the peaches are conventional, and we're going in alphabetical order, as usual.
King Soopers - Palisade peaches, 99 cents/lb with card.
Safeway - Palisade peaches, 99 cents/lb with card.
Sprouts - California yellow or white peaches 88 cents/lb.
Sunflower - California yellow peaches 88 cents/lb. Organic white flesh peaches (no origin) 99 cents/lb.
I'll add in unadvertised prices as I observe them. Yesterday, I'm pretty sure Munson's farmstand was charging $3/lb for their Palisade peaches, while Cure Organic Farm had organic Palisades for $4/lb.
