Spring Farmers' Market Thoughts

Happy first day of spring! With that in mind, consider that the first day of this year's Farmers' Market in downtown Boulder is quickly approaching, opening on Saturday, April 5th. Hours on Saturdays downtown are 8 am to 2 pm, and the Wednesday afternoon/evening market will follow once the season progresses a bit more. My lawn has already been inching towards green for a couple of weeks, and various plants are showing promise. Can't wait to see if last fall's additions to the herb garden have survived.

Easter Tastings This Weekend

This Saturday will be a good day for getting some spring-like Easter dinner ideas, with our local Sunflower planning a "Hopping Holiday Sampling" from 11 to 1, and the Superior Whole Foods hosting a "Spring Tasting" from 1 to 4 (check out the parmesan cracking at 1 while you're at it). Enjoy!

Happy Spring

BTW, happy first full day of spring, which arrived yesterday evening. Go out and eat some asparagus or something. (The Boulder Sunflower had a "manager's special" on asparagus for $1.99 a pound yesterday, and sometimes those specials continue for several days.) And since the Boulder Farmers' Market opens on the first Saturday in April, that should be April 2nd this year, less than two weeks away!!!

A Harbinger of Spring

On a gray day like today, Sunflower's asparagus sale at $1.77/lb that starts today is welcome news. I picked up some, and it's from California, so spring must be on the way. Think I'll improvise and add it to tonight's pasta with marinated artichoke hearts. Menu ideas for next week and comments on the new sales on their way shortly.
