It looks like we'll finally be cooler and maybe even mercifully rainy this weekend, so here's a quick rundown of the current dinner plans. For tonight, salmon will be on deck (wild Alaskan sockeye $9.99 a pound at both Sprouts and Sunflower), either grilled outside or on the grill pan, weather the determinant. On the side, I'm going to try one of the salad recipes from the intriguing article on grain salads in last month's issue of Bon Appetit, tonight's choice being quinoa tabbouleh. Lots of other nice veggies and herbs in there, too.
With rain (hopefully) set in for the weekend's evenings, we'll stay inside for the remainder. Tomorrow I'm looking at Italian-style beef with polenta from Cooking Light. Both Sprouts and Sunflower have an 85% lean ground beef at $3.99 a pound, not the best price ever seen.
I'm going out on a limb for Sunday. With temperatures lowering well down into the 80s for the weekend, and in the best possible case, lots of rain, I'm looking to return to the oven to do a pizza on Sunday. Our favorite is pizza alla salsiccia from Cooking Light, and with chicken sausage on sale for $2.99 a pound at both Sprouts and Sunflower, it's good timing.
