Good Christmas Eve morning, Boulder! Being a Wednesday, we have a new sale starting today at our local Sprouts stores, while the current one continues until the 31st at Whole Foods, and as previously reported, Vitamin Cottage is on a sale hiatus at the moment. Here's what's looking good to me now.
In Sprouts' new sale through January 1st (yup), there's a Seafood Spectacular of mostly previously frozen fish, with swordfish $5.99 a pound, five ounce lobster tails $5.99 each, cod fillets, ahi tuna steaks or crimson snapper fillets all $6.99 a pound, and Alaskan sockeye salmon fillets or 26/30 count raw shrimp $7.99 a pound. Good prices, but I like my swordfish and lobster tails to be domestic or from Canada, which at those prices is highly unlikely. Their Presidential Cut standing rib roast remains $7.99 a pound, chicken sausage (pork also) is $2.99 a pound for bulk and $3.99 a pound for links, pork shoulder roasts or country style ribs (bone-in) are $2.99 a pound, pork loin baby back ribs are $2.49 a pound, fresh ground chicken breast or stuffed breasts are both $3.99 a pound, and any size package of boneless skinless chicken breasts (tenders or thighs also) is $2.99 a pound.
In organic produce at Sprouts, eggplant or one pound bags of baby carrots are spectacular at 98 cents each (the eggplant reminds me of a vegetarian ratatouille-like pasta dish that would be a good antidote to all the rib roast we'll be eating this week), grape tomatoes are $1.98 a pint, Braeburn or red delicious apples are just 98 cents a pound, and in conventional produce, avocado fans will be happy to see Hass avocados at 50 cents each. Elsewhere in the store I'm liking Voskos Greek yogurts at $1 each, but it's an abbreviated two page ad this week, so there aren't a whole lot of other specials to pick from.
Enjoy today's fine weather, and a white Christmas by tomorrow evening!
