In this busy, busy season, the dinner planning needs to be quick, and the dinners even quicker. For tonight, with ground turkey $2.99 a pound, it will be spicy turkey burgers from Bon Appetit (it gets a rare four forks out of four in its reviews). Sunflower will also be the source of asparagus at $1.88 a pound for the side, and it even has organic cilantro for the burgers at 99 cents a bunch.
For tomorrow, Sprouts' sale on both haddock and shrimp for $3.99 a pound is screaming one thing to me: smoky shrimp and halibut stew from Bon Appetit. Haddock or cod is a perfectly reasonable exchange for the halibut, which I love but think is a waste of a very pricey fish in such a stew. Fresh bread and salad on the side (Sunflower has good prices this week on both organic lettuce and tomatoes), and we're done.
For Sunday, I'm considering experimenting with a recipe that appeared on yesterday's Today Show, boneless roast loin of pork, since Sprouts has center-cut pork loin roast for just $1.99 a pound this week. They also have whole conventional pineapples for 99 cents each, tempting me to saute some slices as a kind of dessert.
So that quickly gets us through the weekend.
