Quick rundown on pretty fundamental plans. I'm going to grab some of the halibut during Whole Foods' flash sale from 3 to 7 pm today at $17.99 a pound to put on a grill pan, accompanied by pasta with a bit of pesto to dress it up. For this kind of side, a fun alternative like Whole Foods' own 365 brand of tri-colored mini-shells seems a better option to me than something like linguine. I also have homemade pesto stocked in my freezer, but prepared versions abound, and Whole Foods even has it on their olive bar, at least at the Pearl Street store.
We'll deviate from the usual healthy routine tomorrow with the full slabs of baby back ribs Sprouts has precooked for $9.99 each during their 72 hour sale (details a couple of posts below). A side of roasted yam spears might ease the guilt, and organic garnet yams are just 98 cents a pound at Sprouts this week.
Sprouts' 72 hour sale is also driving my thinking for Sunday, which will be shrimp and scallop posole from Bon Appetit. During that special sale, Sprouts will have reasonably sized sea scallops for $6.99 a pound, and I'll either do it with the shrimp and scallop combo as written in the recipe, or simply make it all scallops.
Which will get us through another weekend of pretty balanced meals on all fronts.
