We have new sales starting today at our Boulder Sprouts and Whole Foods stores. There also should be something new happening at Vitamin Cottage, as their last sale ended last Saturday, but when I stopped by there a couple of days ago, the parking lot was a zoo, as usual. Anyway, here's what's looking good to me now.
At Sprouts through October 7th (where did the summer go), I'm liking boneless pork loin chops (roast also) at just $1.99 a pound, chicken breast tenders also $1.99 a pound, fresh ground chicken or pork $2.99 a pound, fresh farmed Atlantic salmon fillets $5.99 a pound, previously frozen raw wild 26/30 count shrimp $8.99 a pound, and fresh farmed tilapia $6.99 a pound.
In organic produce at Sprouts, one pound bags of baby carrots are just 98 cents each, acorn, butternut or spaghetti squash are all 98 cents a pound, strawberries are $2.88 for a one pound container, and red, green or black seedless grapes and honeycrisp apples are all $2.48 a pound. It's a good time for organic everything at Sprouts, as they are doing an Organic Sale on all sorts of items throughout the store. I'm particularly liking six-ish ounce bags of Late July tortilla chips just $1.50 each, all Nature's Path products 40% off, Qrunch quinoa veggie burgers $3.50 a package, 16 ounce MaraNatha peanut butter $4.99 each, Muir Glen pasta sauce $2.99 a jar, and Back to Nature mac & cheese $1.50 a six ounce box (I've always liked Annie's for that, but I bet Back to Nature does a good one).
In the new sale at Whole Foods through October 13th, I'm liking organic fingerling potatoes from Colorado at $1.48 a pound, organic Fuji apples $1.69 a pound, Pine Manor's air-chilled whole chickens $1.99 a pound, and American Homestead's fine bone-in pork chops $5.99 a pound. Farmed Atlantic salmon fillets pose a dilemma - do you pay $5.99 a pound for them at Sprouts, or $10.99 a pound at Whole Foods, where they are "responsibly farmed" and the fish is always absolutely beautiful? Also at Whole Foods, I'm liking some DeLallo whole wheat pastas $2 a box (I so hope they have the fettucine, which can be hard to find), Brown Cow Greek yogurts $1 each, and Allegro organic espresso Bel Canto at $7.99 a pound for those caffeine fiends.
