Mardi Gras Dinner Planning

If you like to laissez les bons temps rouler for Mardi Gras (next Tuesday, the 21st this year), there are plenty of guides out there to help you celebrate with New Orleans-style cuisine.     My experience is limited, but since it comes from a friend who for many years had her King Cakes delivered by special order from New Orleans, I hope has some legitimacy. Those cakes were absolutely bland white things on the bottom, and topped with a glaze in Mardi Gras colors that looked positively lethal. Of course, everything possibly was organic and wholesome, but something that has a plastic toy baked inside it as a "prize" probably isn't. Maybe somebody like our local Kim and Jake cakes is kicking it up a notch for us. Thanks for the question!
