When I was at the Baseline Sprouts yesterday, the refrigerated case where they keep the prepackaged organic greens was empty, with a sign posted re apologies regarding a shortage. Then today, Whole Foods posted this further explanation of the situation, which would indicate just about everybody wanting good greens already packaged is affected:
Hello, leafy green eaters! Being able to offer you the very best greens is imperative to us, but that also means we have to rely on Mother Nature to be good to the farms where these crops grow. Unfortunately, an unexpected frost hit an area that supplies our pre-packaged mixed green salads, limiting our inventory greatly. Please consider trying romaine instead while we are out of stock of some of your favorites. Thank you for your understanding!
