Okay, so things are getting a little bit more manageable, so here's a quick rundown. Wanting to keep tonight simple, it will be a quick frittata of many sauteed veggies bound by a little bit of egg. Mark Bittman published this as a more vegetable than egg frittata in the New York Times (google it if you want), but it doesn't really need a recipe at all.
We'll get a little more ambitious tomorrow, and thinking about the 72 hour sale currently going on at Sprouts (see Wednesday's post a bit below), it will be smoky shrimp and grits from Food and Wine magazine, using the very big shrimp from Sprouts at $5.99 a pound through Sunday (they have good bulk cheddar sales happening, too). Mine will be a bit smokier, since instead of a regular cheddar, I'll finish off the smoked Seaside cheddar I have from a recent Whole Foods sale.
Whole Foods currently has American Homestead pork shoulder roast on sale for $2.99 a pound. Although it's a cut I don't frequently use, Whole Foods' quality pork got me to thinking about a recipe I've had success with in the past, slow-cooked Tuscan pork with white beans from Cooking Light. Since we might be waking up to some snow on Sunday, a slow cooker comfort food recipe like this looks like just the thing for that day.
Maybe with snow on Sunday, I'll have more time to think about the weekday ideas.
