John Mackey is coming to town, doing a signing of his book, Conscious Capitalism, at the Pearl Street Whole Foods on Monday. Little known fact: Mackey had a co-founder (whom I've had the pleasure of meeting), and you can read a bit of the history of the founding, including the necessity of bathing in an industrial-sized dishwasher, and the tale of the epic flood that nearly wiped the store out less than a year after opening, on Whole Foods' website here. I'm forever indebted to that co-founder for turning me on to lovage, and I hope my attempt at a perennial herb garden featuring it will prosper this spring.
