We have a new sale starting today at our local Sprouts stores, while the current one continues only through Saturday at Vitamin Cottage, and the current one at Whole Foods runs through next Tuesday, the 16th (click for prior reports). Here's what's looking good to me now.
At Sprouts through the 17th, the thing that's calling me is fresh wild sockeye salmon fillets for $9.99 a pound. In mid-July, we must be heading toward the end of the fresh season, so I'm in get it while we can mode. The quality can be a bit variable at Sprouts; I once saw their salmon chopped up in little pieces and looking like it had been there a while, while another time I saw glistening whole fillets in the style of Whole Foods. Also looking good to me are center-cut boneless pork loin chops for $2.99 a pound, three types of chicken sausage also $2.99 a pound, fresh ground chicken, pork or chicken breast again $2.99 a pound, boneless ribeyes $10.99 a pound, and Rosie's organic chicken drumsticks stunning at $1.99 a pound.
In organic produce at Sprouts, green or red leaf or romaine lettuce are all $1.29 a head, celery is $1.29 a bunch, one pound bags of baby carrots are $1.49 each, five pound bags of red or Yukon gold potatoes are $3.99 each, cucumbers are 88 cents each, bulk spring mix or spinach remains great at $3.99 a pound, red, green or black seedless grapes are $2.49 a pound, and cantaloupes are 88 cents a pound. Elsewhere in the store, I'm liking Chobani Greek yogurts at $1 each, and gigantic 32 ounce bottles of Avalon Organics hair care products at $12.99 each.
