Cure Farm Has Tomato Baskets!
I'm so happy to see the return of the hanging cherry tomato baskets at Cure Organic Farm's farm store, newly opened for the season (closed today, but back open tomorrow). At $35, they initially struck me as kind of pricey, until I realized that would be the norm for a hanging flower basket of similar size (and these tomato baskets are big). We were without a basket last year, when their crop did not flourish to their satisfaction. But the baskets they have this year are covered with blossoms, and the one we got already has several cherry tomatoes well in the works. Why do something like this in a hanging basket? For one thing, it makes for a very different hanging basket. More importantly to us, it can be hung just out of reach of the mouths of hungry deer. We got ours at the farm store, but maybe they'll be bringing them to the Farmers' Market as well.
